History of Island Peak Climb

The Island Peak is located at the heart of the Khumbu region. It is recognized as a moderate climbing up top of the Everest area. Island Peak was the name offered to the hill in 1952 by Eric Shipton’s who believed it to be reminiscent of an island in a sea of ice. It was relabeled “Imja Tse” in the early 80s, though its original name is still more preferred.
