The (8,163m) Mt. Manaslu Peak known as Kuntangchuli is eighth highest mountain peak in the Manaslu trekking route. Whether you want to hike from tea-house or you prefer to camp trek, Manaslu trekking is right for everyone. The Manaslu circuit hike is one of wilderness and challenging trek that goes up to 5,300m via Larkya-La Pass. The trek can be compress from 12 to 18 days as per your physical and emotional desire of hike. However, this hike requires a special hiking permit and admission ticket which is valid for Manaslu Circuit and Annapurna Circuit.

What makes Manaslu Circuit Trek special?

Manaslu Circuit Trekking is considered by trekking experts to be one of the finest trekking in Nepal. Despite its recent popularity, the Manaslu Trek is still rural and less congested than other Nepal’s well-established teahouse treks. The world’s eighth highest peak Mount Manaslu (8,163m), is traversed during the climb.

Main features of Manaslu trek are:

  • It is quite popular, yet it is still less congested than Annapurna Circuit or Everest Base Camp. Manaslu is becoming more well-known, yet there are still around ten times fewer hikers on the Manaslu Trail.
  • The Manaslu circuit provides a wild and natural experience with genuine local culture and people, although it is not a camping trip, but rather a tea hose tour (lodge to lodge trek).
  • The Manaslu trip is simple to reach; no long domestic flights are necessary.
  • The first section of the trail follows Buri Gandaki, a deep and long river valley with several suspension bridge intersections.
  • This hike encompasses all of Nepal’s flavors: you’ll travel from the subtropical forest at lower altitudes to the Himalayan foothills to the Himalayan highlands.

Getting to the Manaslu Circuit

Every morning between 6 and 7 a.m., public buses depart from Kathmandu for Arughat-Soti Khola. Local buses are overcrowded as more than two million people depart from Kathmandu Valley to celebrate Dashain festival. Visit their family back home in the countryside over the vacation. If your excursion occurs between the end of September and the beginning of October, it might be difficult to acquire a place on a bus for a last-minute booking. Except during festival times, bus seats are readily available. If you want a more pleasant travel to the beginning location of your hike, we may organize a private jeep that will be faster and more comfortable.

To avoid the road, there is an alternative trail

Since 2014, the Nepal army has begun constructing the road, and the government intends to link highways leading to the Tibet border. Due to road construction, the first two days of the Manaslu trekking trail will be affected and trekker will have to walk. And, in the not-too-distant future, they will extend the road all the way to Sama Gaun, where it will connect to China (Tibet). A new alternative trail has been researched that runs through the villages of Arughat (600m) — Manbu — Kashi Gaon (1800m) — Kerauja (2075m) before joining the main Manaslu route at Dovan. However, this new trail has basic logistic and trekking is more aerobic because it involves much up and down. But this “off the beaten path” trail has basic logistic and trekking is more aerobic because it involves much up and down.

Best time to trek Manaslu?

Spring season and Autumn season are the best months for trekking to Manaslu circuit. During this time, the visibility of mountains is outstanding with lots of seasonal flowers and villages providing spectacular views along the Manaslu trekking route. Manaslu trek during monsoon and winter is not highly recommended.

Tsum Valley Trek needs an additional week, and there are several more day trip sites such as Kaal Taal (Death Lake), Hinang Gompa, Himalchuli Base Camp, Manaslu Base Camp, Pungyen Gompa, and Lajung La. As a result, your itinerary is determined by the time you have, your interests and previous trekking experience, and your physical health. To regulate tourism in the area, the Manaslu Region has been designated a restricted area by the government of Nepal. Independent hikers are therefore not permitted in Manaslu, and trekkers must receive a special entry permission.

In addition, a local guide and a minimum of two trekkers are required according to government regulations. Additionally, a registered agency must process your permit. The Manaslu Circuit’s essential permits cannot be issued by independent guides.
