Day 1

Option One : Hiking to North Thamel Jamacho – The royal forest hill station – 2400m – jungle Walk up and down 5 to 6 hours.

Jamacho Hiking
Jamacho is an short hiking trail inside Kathmandu valley in Nagarjun Forest Reserve, Raniban (The Queen’s forest). Situated in the north west of the Kathmandu valley, it is the nature blessed day hiking spot in Nepal. The trail enclosed by a thick forest inside the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park takes you to the Jamacho Monastery afer two and half hours of walking up to the hill.

Jamacho view point (2128m) offers the best views of northern Himalayan ranges and the best view of the Kathmandu Valley from the viewpoint beside the monastery. The everest and langtang himalayan ranges are awesome from here. The diverse species of flora and fauna through the pine, oak and rhododendron forest offers the splendid panorama. You can meet with the Buddhist monks praying and meditating at the monastery. You need to accquire an entrance fee for hiking around the Jamacho area which costs NRs 500/day for foreigners, NRs 250 for SAARC nationals and NRs 25 for Nepalese hikers.

Option Two : Walking or Hiking to Shivapuri National Park form Kakani to Budhanilkantha via Shivapuri Village – North Kathmandu – 27km Drive – hill station, National Park walking with wildlife – 5 to 6 hours trekking.

Kakani is the hilltop station situated in Nuwakot district on the northern side just 29km away from the capital city, Kathmandu. On the trip Kakani to Budhanilkantha, a 5-6 hours day hiking, you will explore the remote kakani village, stunning views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Manalsu and other Himalayan peaks. You will be walking through the dense forested area shivapuri national park and at end you will reach Budhanilkantha, the place for Hindu pilgrims where sleeping bishnu is residing on a holy pond.

Option Three : Shivapuri Hiking – Second highest peak of Kathmandu Valley- Shivapuri National Park – Drive 14km – climb Shivapuri hill top – 6 to 7 hours hiking trips.

Option Four : Budhanilkantha the sleeping Bishnu temple to Sundarijal Hiking day trips – Nagi Gompa the nunnery monastery visiting – 5 to 6 hours hiking trip – 27km drive.

Option Five : Niking Gompa to Kofan Monastery via Budhanilkantha Sleeping Vishunu Temple – 4 to 5 hours hiking, walking on the hill ridge – Kopan Monastery the Lartest buddhism school of Nepal – Drive 18km.

Option Six : Sundarijal to Sankhu Walking day tour – Jhule Mountain Hill station – Jarshing Pauwa and Sankhu the newari village – 6 to 7 hours hike – Drive 29km.

Option Seven : Hiking Sankhu to Nagarkot and drive back by bus via bhaktapur city – 6 to 7 hours uphill walk – drive 47km.

Option Eight : Nagarkot Changunarayan Temple – Sankhu Village Hiking – 6 to 7 hours hike – Drive 38km – Mountain View and village walk.

Option Nine : Namobuddha Hiking – Drive 60km – Buddhist Prayer center and School – 4 to 5 hours walk east kathmandu.

Option Ten : Pholchoki Hill Hiking – South east Kathmandu – Drive 32km – 6 to 7 hours walking trips – the highest hill station of Kathmandu Valley 2900m -Kathmandu Valley View.

I did the ABC trek with Bashu and it was just fantastic! Bashu is fluent in English and German and had in depth knowledge on all related questions that our group had on our trek. I will certainly come back to Nepal again and would book another trip with him in a heartbeat!

Last December 2015/January 2016 we made the 18 days EBC trek, together with guide Kumar of Nepal Footprint Holidays and our porter Sudeep. Both great guys!! We had a marvellous time and food and lodges were a perfect arrangement! Chitwan was a hell of a ride, but worth it. Parkland Hotel in Chitwan was 100 % the right choise!

Nepal Footprint might be a small company but nevertheless excellent! 10/10 we would contact them again for the ABC trek Annapurna in the future!!
