Savor one of the most beautiful landscapes in the rain-shadow of Mt. Dhaulagiri while treading along the trails to the long lost kingdom of Upper Mustang.

Mustang Trekking is a different trekking experience in Nepal. Upper Mustang is the restricted region for foreign travelers and hence the trekkers to Upper Mustang need to obtain the Special Permit. The special permit costs US $ 500 for first ten days and 50 dollars per day for additional days. Upper Mustang that lies in the rain-shadow of Mt. Dhaulagiri is a moderate trek in Nepal. It caters the outstanding views of colorful mountains, which have interesting myths attached with their colors. Upper Mustang Trek also offers the unique culture of people of Lo-manthang (Capital of Upper Mustang). The tiji festival will be celebrate 22 , 23 and 24 May 2017  in Upper Mustang.

Mustang Trekking starting point is the most popular touristic town of Nepal, Pokhara. The scenic flight from Pokhara takes you to the airstrips of Jomsom from where the real trek begins. Treading along the trails of Lower Mustang in Kali Gandaki Valley, the Upper Mustang Trek goes through Kagbeni (the borderline from where the restricted region of Upper Mustang begins). As the trek goes beyond Kagbeni, it begins to cater the landscapes, which are dramatically barren yet so beautiful. As the Upper Mustang trek goes closer towards Lo-Manthang, the trekkers get to see the sky burials in the caves. It represents ancient death rituals of the people of Upper Mustang, who migrated to the region from Tibet centuries ago. At Upper Mustang the ruins of the ancient palaces of the king of Upper Mustang is primary highlight. The places in close proximity of Lo-manthang highlight fascinating remote villages and ancient monasteries.

The other highlights of Upper Mustang Trek with us include the incredible Himalayan panorama of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurnas and Mt. Nilgiri among others. The spirituality of Buddhism can be observed in the monasteries like Ghar Gompa. Similarly, the trek also caters the culture of Bons in the Monastery at Lubra Valley as well the Hinduism at the sacred temple of Muktinath.

Mustang Trekking is the best during all the time in a year even in Monsoon season as entire Upper Mustang lies in rain-shadow area in trans-Himalayan mountain region.

I did the ABC trek with Bashu and it was just fantastic! Bashu is fluent in English and German and had in depth knowledge on all related questions that our group had on our trek. I will certainly come back to Nepal again and would book another trip with him in a heartbeat!

Last December 2015/January 2016 we made the 18 days EBC trek, together with guide Kumar of Nepal Footprint Holidays and our porter Sudeep. Both great guys!! We had a marvellous time and food and lodges were a perfect arrangement! Chitwan was a hell of a ride, but worth it. Parkland Hotel in Chitwan was 100 % the right choise!

Nepal Footprint might be a small company but nevertheless excellent! 10/10 we would contact them again for the ABC trek Annapurna in the future!!
