Jamacho Hiking
Jamacho is an short hiking trail inside Kathmandu valley in Nagarjun Forest Reserve, Raniban (The Queen’s forest). Situated in the north west of the Kathmandu valley, it is the nature blessed day hiking spot in Nepal. The trail enclosed by a thick forest inside the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park takes you to the Jamacho Monastery after two and half hours of walking up to the hill.
Jamacho view point (2128m) offers the best views of northern Himalayan ranges and the best view of the Kathmandu Valley from the viewpoint beside the monastery. The Everest and langtang Himalayan ranges are awesome from here. The diverse species of flora and fauna through the pine, oak and rhododendron forest offers the splendid panorama. You can meet with the Buddhist monks praying and meditating at the monastery. You need to acquire an entrance fee for hiking around the Jamacho area which costs NRs 500/day for foreigners, NRs 250 for SAARC national and NRs 25 for Nepalese hikers.
