    How to Reach Langtang Valley

Langtang Valley is the shortest approach to the Himalayas from Kathmandu. The trekking route to Langtang Valley that lies very close to Tibet follows a part of the Tamang Heritage Trek and Red Panda Trek trails of Langtang. Moreover, the trek that traverses through old Tamang villages and monasteries display Tibetan culture. The floral and faunas, bio-diversities are prime highlights of Langtang Valley Trek. There are many colorful flowers such as rhododendron and Primula – alpine flower, and different types of birds and animals including the Langoor Monkey, Snow Leopard, and Red Panda. The Langtang National Park has stunning Himalayan scenery including Langtang Lirung, Langsisha Ri, and Ganja -La Peak among others.

The route involves 5 to 6 hours trekking every day, supported by professionally trained local guides who speak English and basic German. The highest altitude reached on the trek is 3,800m near Kyangin Gompa where trekkers can taste Yak cheese made by Swiss technique and hot apple pie from the German bakery. Comfortable overnight accommodation with hot solar showers and delicious meals in local tea – houses make Langtang Valley Trek comfortable and full of amenities.

Best Time to do Langtang Valley Trek

The optimum times to go on the Langtang Valley are in the Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–December). Then, the weather is mild and pleasant with lovely views, however it can still get chilly at night. However, the Langtang Valley hike is more enjoyable in the spring when the entire evergreen forest is covered in bright rhododendron blossoms. Even yet, both summer and winter hikes are still viable at Langtang National Park. During the monsoon, expect muddy terrain, but you can prepare yourself quite well. Although it is colder in the winter, Langtang gives the most romantic vistas of the season.

    Reviews

    • We’ve had an amazingly well organized guided trek to Lantang region. It’s the second time that I come to Nepal, both with Bashu’s help, and I recommend Nepal Footprint Holiday very strongly. If you’re looking for mountain professionals taking real care of their clients, with a sense of humor and a perfect flexibility and understanding, look no further. In more details: We are just back from a 14-day trek to the Langtang region in January, overall our itinerary was a combination of Tamang Heritage, Langtang Valley and a part of the Gosaikunda trek. We are two 27-year guys, in decent physical condition but without experience in the mountains. Bashu helped us set up the itinerary with his usual dedication and flexibility, and our guide on the trek was Ram Rai. Ram has been an amazing guide, very professional and experienced. He adapted several times our itinerary ad hoc based on our condition and the challenges remaining ahead – such as going further by a couple hours on the way up the Langtang valley, or stopping for an afternoon rest before going to Cholang Pati. We were surprised by snowfall while in Cholang Pati, before going to Gosaikunda, and his reaction was swift and logical: go down to Dhunche, which we did immediately. Thanks to his guiding expertise we’ve also managed to climb the Tsergo Ri, which was one of the highlights of our trip. The view on the mountains around is fantastic, and knowing that we were higher than any point in Europe felt quite special. And more importantly, we’ve always felt safe on the way, and we managed to physically get the best out of ourselves while still feeling protected and safe – a perfect combination for two people with low experience of the mountains! Beyond the trail expertise, Ram has also always made sure that we were feeling good, taking care of accommodation, food and water, and all the small details of life. I would strongly recommend going through NPH for a trek in Nepal, you will be in good hands.
